The Apex XC® 1500 is Patterson-UTI’s newest multi –functional rig design. This pad capable rig is specifically engineered for multi- well, extended reach horizontals. Patterson-UTI has designed the APEX-XC to be the most advanced modular Box-on-Box design in the Industry by integrating auxiliary equipment into the bottom boxes, which enables the rig to have one of the most efficient walks and pad to pad rig moves in the Industry.

The APEX XC® is equipped with the latest AC drilling technology in the drilling industry. The advanced operating system allows the driller to set exact drilling parameters, which enhances the ability to deliver superior drilling performance in the most challenging drilling conditions. This advanced operating system also offers a platform for drilling process automation integration. The APEX XC® 1500 comes standard with:

  • 825,000lb Mast Rating w/ 142 clear height
  • (Minimum)Two Gardner Denver PXL 2000HP 7,500psi Mud Pumps
  • Varco 500T High Torque Top Drive w 51,000 FT/LB torque @ 125 RPM
  • 44,000’ Setback of 4” DP or 29,000+ Setback of 5” DP
  • Single stage mast raise/lower functions
  • Walking capacity 150’ in X direction and 30’ in Y direction w/ 775,000 setback capacity
  • Environmentally safe zero percent discharge system
  • BOP Hoisting System integrated in bottom substructure
  • HPU, Accumulator and Walking System are integrated into substructure
  • 3 NOV Saber Shale Shakers
  • Gas Buster

Additional options for the APEX XC® include winterization, third pump, bi-fuel, 100% natural gas engines or high line power conversions for lower operation costs and reduced emissions.
